Understanding Group Membership

Permissions and Access to features in ResPax are controlled by User Group Permissions.

Users do not have permissions associated directly to the user. All permissions are associated to a Group that the user belongs to. This makes future maintenance easier.

Within the User Group permissions is a Group Membership card with a unique functionality. Whereas, all other enabled/disabled switches control visibility at a menu or page level, the group and sub-group properties control visibility at a per-tour level.

This is primarily designed for companies with more than one business brand, or site, or with a large number of different tour offerings. The visibility can be by a group , or a sub-group and is restricts visibiity on the following pages:

  • RBE Tour Maintenance List

  • RBE Booking Form - Tour Selection from drop-down list

  • Booking List - (coming soon)

  • Quote List - (coming soon)

Instructions

Step-by-step guide to using Group Memberships

User Group Membership (Quick Ref : Settings / Users & Groups / Groups Tab / [Group] / Membership Card)

  1. From the main menu, click Settings

  2. Click the Users & Groups menu

    Select the Groups tab

  3. Add or Edit a User Group (example below)

4. The last Card on the Permissions page controls Tour visibility via Group Membership.

  • This differs to the other switches on the Permissions page that all control access to menu and page items.

  • The Group Permissions restrict Tours from being displayed in the Tour Maintenance page, if the Group Name and Sub-Group Name of the User Group, do not match the Group Name and Sub-Group Name of a Tour

User Group Membership ( Settings / Users & Groups / Groups Tab / [Group] / Membership Card)

Group Membership for Tours (Tours / Tour Maintenance / [Tour] / Advanced tab / Managed By Card

5. Example Usage

For a User Group, a Group Name and Sub-Group name are set on the Group Membership card

In Tour Maintenance the same Group Type and Group Sub-Type are set on the Managed By card on both the ‘REEF’ and ‘COACH’ tours

The Result is that on the Tour List, only those 2 matching tours are displayed. This is a permanent filter based on the logged in user’s Group Permissions
