User Guide: Navigating Respax Insights for Tourism Analysis 

Introduction to Respax Insights Dashboard 

Respax Insights is a versatile tool specifically designed to aid in analyzing tourism-related data. This introductory guide aims to assist staff to navigate a Respax Insights dashboard. 

This guide provides an overview specifically catering to tourism professionals, enabling them to derive valuable insights and make informed decisions within the tourism sector. Consistent usage and exploration of features will enhance your proficiency in deriving insights from tourism data. 

Accessing the Dashboard 

  1. Login: Access the Respax Insights platform via a web browser using your provided credentials. 

  1. Access Insights: Access “Insights” via the Reporting Menu. 

 

 

Understanding Dashboard Components 

You will be presented with the following page 

 

Basic Navigation 

Clicking on the Headings navigates to the selected dashboard page. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 A summary of each Dashboard page as follows; 

  • Filters - Displays input controls used to filter results 

  • Bookings - Displays data specific to bookings based on the booked date 

  • Compare Bookings - Displays data specific to bookings based on the booked date (over 2 date periods for comparison) 

  • Guests - Displays Pax Number (Tour Participation) information based on the tour delivery date 

  • Guests (Region) - Displays Pax Number (Tour Participation) Source and Origin information based on the tour delivery date 

  • Guests (Lead Times) - Displays Lead Time information based on product (Days between booked date and tour date) 

  • Sales (Travelled) - Displays data specific to Product (Tour) Sales based on the tour delivery date 

  • Compare Top10 Sales (Travelled) - Displays data specific to Top 10 Agents Product (Tour) Sales based on the tour delivery date (over 2 date periods for comparison) 

  • Compare Sales (Travelled) - Displays data specific to Product (Tour) Sales based on the tour delivery date (over 2 date periods for comparison) 

  • Sales (Purchased) - Displays data specific to Product (Tour) Sales based on the booked date 

  • Compare Sales (Purchased) - Displays data specific to Product (Tour) Sales based on the booked date (over 2 date periods for comparison) 

 

Applying Filters 

The Filters Dashboard provides input controls that filter the results shown on all of the Dashboard pages. The Clear All Filters button removes all applied filters. 

Key Metrics 

Key Metrics are visible on the majority of Dashboard pages and provide the totals for the individual metrics as shown. These figures update dynamically based on the filtering options in use.  

 

Visualisation Controls 

The majority of visualisations have the same controls available. 

 

 

 

Highlight Mode 

Default behaviour is to Highlight data when clicking on a data point. Which updates/highlights other visualisations dynamically as shown. Clicking empty space reverts the selection. 

 

Drill Mode and other visualisation options 

Turning on Drill Mode changes this behaviour. 

 

Selecting a data point now drills down a level.  

 

Drilling back up is via the Drill up control.  

 

Other options include 

Turning off drill down mode by selecting the drill mode control returns back to highlight mode 

 

Now displays a level down in the Date Hierarchy  

 

 

 

 

 

After Drilling down and returning back to Highlight mode allows a datapoint to be selected at that lower level.  

 

Selecting Qtr 3, 2022 updates/highlights other visualisations dynamically as shown. 

 

These controls are best learned via trial and error. 

 

 

Active Filters 

Control displays any active filters affecting the visual 

 

 

Focus Mode 

Focus Mode provides a full screen view of that visual 

 

In Focus mode all of the same controls are available for use. Select “Back to Report” to return to the dashboard view. 

 

 

 

More Options 

Selecting More Options provides additional functionality 

This guide is not intended to cover all Insights features. These options are best learned via trial and error. 

 

Additional Filters 

On the right hand side of the dashboard there are additional filtering options available. These filters apply to the active dashboard page or the selected visual.

Best Practices and Tips for Tourism Analysis 

  • Yearly Overview: Use the year drill-down to understand annual performance and plan marketing strategies accordingly. 

  • Quarterly Insights: Analyze seasonal trends using quarter drill-down to adjust offerings or promotions accordingly. 

  • Monthly/Daily Analysis: Dive into month/day drill-down for detailed insights into tourist preferences and activities during specific times.
